Method 3: Check Recycle Bin to Undo a Delete

Another solution you can try to undo a delete is via the Recycle Bin. This is a folder that temporarily stores all the deleted data for 30 days. After the allotted time, your data will be permanently deleted. If it hasn’t been 30 days since your file is deleted, then this solution will work for you.

Step 1

Open the Recycle Bin on your computer and locate the target files.

Once you see your files select them, right-click on your mouse, and tick Restore.

If you want to restore a deleted file, you need to visit the folder it was previously located, check the file history, and select the version you want to restore. However, this method will only work if the File History feature is turned on beforehand.

Restoring the previous version can also affect the changes you made to your other files. For example, if you edit a document, all the changes made will be gone and the file will be back to its previous version. You may need to redo the edits again.

Step 1

Open File Explorer and go to the folder of the deleted file/s.

Step 2

Right-click the folder and select Show more options > Restore previous versions.

Step 3

From there, you should see versions with different dates. Remember when your files were deleted and select the version with an earlier date.
