One of the best ways to keep your iPad data safe is to store them on your computer. Apart from creating a backup, transferring your files also creates space for new files.
Moving your files from iPad to PC is not as complicated as it sounds, in reality, it is pretty easy if you’re using the right methods. In this article, I listed some helpful solutions on how to effectively transfer files from iPad to PC. Check them out!
Method 1: Transfer Files from iPad to PC via Files Explorer
One of the most common ways to transfer files from an iPad to a computer is through the File Explorer feature. This allows you to directly open the iPad’s storage and access the files. From there, you can either copy or move the data to your PC. But, this method can only transfer photos and nothing more. It does not support other file types.
Use a lighting cable to connect your iPad to your computer.
If you see the “Trust this computer” prompt, hit Trust. Open the File Explorer, go to My PC, locate your iPad, and click on it.
From there, find your target folder and copy/cut the data you want to transfer by clicking right on your mouse.
Create a folder on your computer to store the copied files (you may also use an existing folder). Right-click on your mouse and hit Paste.
The process may take some time depending on the amount of data you are transferring.
Method 2: Transfer Files from iPad to PC via iCloud
If you prefer transferring your files wirelessly, you can use iCloud Drive. It is an IOS cloud feature that can store and sync your files. This means that you can access and download them on any of your IOS devices or through the website.
Remember, iCloud only offers 5GB of free storage, if your files exceed this limit, you can always purchase additional space.
On your iPad, open the Files app and locate the files you want to transfer.
From there, long press one file and start ticking all the target files. Tap the three-dot icon and select Copy.
Exit the Files app and go to Settings > your Profile > iCloud > iCloud Drive. Next, tick Paste to move the items you copied.
On your PC, go to the iCloud website and log in with the same Apple ID used on the iPad. Click on iCloud Drive then locate and select the target data.
Tap the Download icon.
Wait for the process to finish and the files should be stored on your computer’s download folder.
