Do you have a watermark on a PDF document that you want to remove? You aren’t going to be able to do it with your typical PDF reader. Thankfully, if you want to remove watermark from PDF, it isn’t too difficult. You just need the right software and the right information. We can help you with this.
This is a step-by-step guide to remove watermark from a PDF.
Things to be aware of while removing watermark from PDF
It is worth noting that this process to remove a watermark with PDFelement will work perfectly if it is an actual watermark. This means that it has been set-up as a watermark when the PDF was created. However, if the ‘watermark’ instead forms a physical part of the document, then it is going to be a lot more complicated for you to remove. In some cases, you need a workaround. Anyway, you can follow the steps below to remove watermarks from pdf for free in either situation mentioned above.
PDFelement – The Free PDF Watermark Remover
Step 1. Download and Install PDFelement
To begin with, you will need to get your hands on a piece of software called ‘PDFelement’. While there are a lot of different PDF editing tools out there, we have found that PDFelement is the easiest to use. Once you know what you are doing (i.e. by following this guide to PDF remove watermark), then you will be able to get rid of that watermark in mere seconds. In addition to this, PDFelement can do a number of other ‘useful’ PDF editing tasks.
Once you have downloaded and installed PDFelement onto your computer, load it up. We can then move onto the next step of the process.
Step 2. Open your PDF in PDFelement
The next step is to load up the PDF file in PDFelement.
This is simple. Using PDFelement is just like using a word processor. In the middle of the screen, you will see a button that says ‘Open File‘. Click this.
You can now browse to the location where your file is stored. How you do this will be dependent on the operating system that you are using. Although, the process is fairly straightforward. If you have ever opened up a file in your word processor before, then the process is going to be exactly the same as what you are used to.
Step 3. Remove the Watermark from the PDF
Now, all that you need to do is click the ‘Edit’ link at the top of the page.
A new dropdown box will appear. Select the ‘Watermark’ button and hit ‘Remove Watermark’.
The watermark will now be instantly removed from every single page. This is assuming that it is a watermark in the first place.
However, if you can’t delete the watermark by doing this, you can have the PDF converted to a Word file by clicking the ‘Convert‘ button, and select ‘To Word‘.
For a free trial version of PDFelement, you can convert up to 5 pages for each PDF file.
Now, you will have an editable Word file, but still, there are watermarks on the file. You can press Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C on your keyboard, then paste the content to a new Word file. Remember to right-click and select ‘Keep Text Only‘ . Ta-Da! The watermarks are gone.
Also, if you find the text and image are “tangled”, you can use the OCR function in the program to make the PDF file editable. And remove the watermark by pasting the text content to a new file.
Step 4. Save your file
You can now save your file. It may be worth saving it under a new filename. This way you will always have access to the original file if you need it.
It may be worth loading up the saved file to see if you have managed to remove the watermark from your PDF correctly. If you have followed this guide, we have absolutely no doubt that it would have been properly removed.
