Because of the iPhone’s incredible camera quality, a lot of people use it to capture memorable events, vlogs, and even short video clips. However, iPhones don’t have unlimited storage and videos usually take up a lot of space.
That is why some users transfer the videos from their iPhone to Mac in order to save storage and back up their data at the same time. Macs have more storage compared to iPhones, and it will be easier to edit your videos if they are stored on your computer.
It may sound easy, but transferring video from iPhone to Mac can be difficult. But don’t worry, we listed a couple of methods on this page to help you out! Read on!
Method 1: Transfer Videos from iPhone to Mac via iCloud Photos
If you want to backup and transfer your photos and videos at the same time, you can use iCloud Photos. With this feature, you can sync and store images and videos through your iPhone. After that, you will be able to access the clips on your Mac.
From there, you can either transfer the videos to your Mac by downloading them or store them on the cloud.
Open your iPhone and go to Settings > your Profile > iCloud > Photos, then turn on iCloud Photos. After this, make sure to have a stable internet connection to successfully sync your videos.
On your Mac, open the Apple Menu and click System Preferences.
Next, choose iCloud/Apple ID > iCloud. From there, tick the box beside iCloud Photos.
Open iCloud on your Mac and log in using the Apple ID used on the iPhone. Open Photos and pick the videos you want to transfer.
When you’re done, click the Download Selected Items option to proceed. After the download, check your files.
Method 2: Transfer Videos from iPhone to Mac via AirDrop
If you like a more straightforward method, you can try out AirDrop. This feature can directly send videos and transfer other data from iPhone to Mac and vice versa.
However, we don’t recommend using this method for transferring bulk or long videos. The process may take time and quality might be affected due to connection errors. Nevertheless, AirDrop is still a good option when it comes to data transfer.
First, enable AirDrop on your Mac by going to Finder > Go > AirDrop. Set the “Allow to be discovered by” option to Everyone.
Next, locate and select the videos you want to transfer on your iPhone.
Tap the Share icon and select AirDrop. You will see a notification to turn on AirDrop, enable the option, and set the discoverability to Everyone.
On your iPhone screen, you should see your Mac as an available device. To start sending videos, simply tap on the Mac avatar.
The process may take time depending on the size of your files. When it’s done, you can play the videos to check them.
