Although Google Drive is a pretty good program, people still deal with issues when using it. One of these problems is dealing with accidental deletion. Some users have accidentally deleted their files such as Google Docs and more.

Method 1: Recover Deleted Google Drive Files via Trash Folder

Google Drive doesn’t erase your files right away after you click the delete button. Drive temporarily stores the deleted data in the Trash folder for 30 days. Within this allotted time, you can freely recover your documents. But, after 30 days the documents will be wiped out.

Step 1

Open Google Drive and on the left sidebar click Trash.

Step 2

From there, locate and select the target files, right-click on your mouse, and choose Restore.

Step 3

After that, the files should be back in their original location.

Method 2: Contact Google Support to Recover deleted Google Docs after 30 Days

If your files are no longer available in the trash folder, you may try to reach out to Google Support. You can send a request to restore your files. This process usually takes 12 to 48 hours depending on their availability.

But take note, there’s a possibility that Google may not grant your request. Nevertheless, this method is a safe way to recover permanently deleted Google Docs, so I would still recommend that you try this one out.

Step 1

On your computer, visit Google Support. On this page, you will see tips on how to recover your data, I recommend you check that as well.

Step 2

Scroll down on the page and click the Request File Recovery button.
